Experio Summer is an Experio Group company. Experio Group was founded by Tony Evans and Rob Moss in 2000.
2001 – we operated a Summer School at Clifton College in Bristol on a ‘dry hire’ basis in the name of Experio Life, which was the original Experio Group company
2005 – following discussions with the College’s management team, we took the step to deliver the summer programme as a Clifton College branded international summer school
2006 – the partnership developed further to include a direct role for Experio Life to promote the College overseas and to recruit international boarders through its various marketing activities
2013 – our “partnership” model was so successful that we attracted the attention of Bromsgrove School near Birmingham who asked us to establish a similar model for them
2019 – our last summer of operation prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and the end of the partnerships with Clifton and Bromsgrove
2020 – we launched Experio Summer as a specialist junior summer school operator in order to partner with UK independent boarding schools and were joined by Richard Avery, former Operations Director at Clifton College who took up the same position with Experio Summer and by Ben Whittaker, Managing Director of EngXcel in Cambridge who is responsible for Academic Programme Management across all Experio Summer centres
2021 – we agreed a new partnership with Bishop’s Stortford College in Hertfordshire to establish their own branded international summer school and to recruit full-time international boarders for their Prep and Senior Schools
2022 – 250 students from 12 different countries attended the BSC International Summer School over a 4-week period
2023 – building on the success of our first year at BSC, we ran at capacity for 6 weeks in July and August, welcoming 500 students from 22 different countries
2024 – 550 students from 24 different countries attended the BSC International Summer School
2024 – we agreed a new partnership with Leighton Park School in Reading to establish their own branded international summer school from 2025 onwards
2025 – BSC ISS welcomed 400 students from 23 different countries and in it’s first year Summer School at Leighton Park hosted 250 students representing 20 different nationalities
2025 – Experio English Ltd was formed through the merger of Experio Life and EngXcel and from 2026 will deliver British Council accredited English language courses at the Experio Summer centres as well as running year-round English language, academic and cultural programmes for closed groups in Cambridge, London and 3 other popular locations around England
2026 – Experio English will launch a new International Academic Summer School for Young Adults (16-19 yrs) at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge

Our partner schools
Bishop’s Stortford College, conveniently located on the edge of the historic market town of Bishop’s Stortford and just a short walk from the shops and the train station, is a leading UK independent boarding school. Bishop’s Stortford College’s reputation for providing an outstanding education in the fullest sense of the word has continued to grow since its establishment in 1868. Today, it is one of the leading co-educational, all through, day and boarding schools in the country with 1230 pupils across the three schools: Pre-Prep School (3 to 7 yrs 109 pupils), Prep School (7 to 13 yrs 476 pupils), Senior School (13 to 18 yrs 645 pupils). The modern education the College delivers, focuses on academic excellence that nurtures values and leadership qualities in every student. It offers a holistic education, which is reflected not just by the fantastic A Level results, but also success and accolades across sport and the performing arts with students encouraged to embrace the opportunities available. There are 151 boarders in the Senior School, of which 85 are international and the rest are from the UK. Bishop’s Stortford is ideally located between London and Cambridge and is just 8km from London Stansted Airport.
Leighton Park School in the Royal Berkshire town of Reading is only 35 minutes from London Heathrow Airport; 25 minutes from London Paddington and 20 minutes from Oxford. It is a co-educational independent school for both day and boarding pupils and was founded in 1890. Todav, Leighton Park is home to around 600 pupils drawn from over 40 different countries and won Senior School of the Year 2023-24 in the Independent Schools Association Awards. It has the top performing Sixth Form in Berkshire for the academic progress that the Sixth Form leavers make and its approach shows that balancing high-quality learning with fun, living adventurously, sports, performing arts, off-curriculum projects and helping others is the best way to achieve academic success. It also has some incredible facilities, including a stunning Sixth Form Study Centre and School Library, state of the art Music and Digital Media Centre, sector-leading Engineering Workshop and Design Studio and Art Department with nine specialist studios, from ceramics, to textiles and print making to photographic design studio. All combined with 65 acres of beautiful parkland, with 20 tennis courts, 3 football pitches, new hockey Astro and a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool.
Experio English
Experio English was formed through the merger of Experio Life (the original Experio Group company) and EngXcel, the Cambridge based English language school which has been the exclusive partner of Experio Summer and has been delivering high quality English language tuition on behalf of Experio Summer since 2022. Experio English is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK and is a member of English UK.
Experio English delivers the English language courses (General English & English for Academic Purposes) in all Experio Summer centres as well as running a range of courses year round in Cambridge, including an International Academic Summer School for Young Adults (16-19 yrs) and tailor-made group stays in London and other popular destinations across England which are perfectly suited to visiting overseas schools, corporate groups, groups of friends, clubs and associations.
Meet the team
Tony Evans, Sales & Marketing Director
After graduating in Modern European Studies in 1984, Tony began his career teaching English in Germany, Italy, and France before moving into Summer School Operations Management, where he led staff recruitment, programme development, and centre support across multiple sites. His success in these roles led to senior Sales and Marketing positions with leading organisations in the international education sector. In the 1990s, Tony co-founded two thriving educational businesses in the UK and France, and in 2000, he joined forces with Rob Moss to establish Experio Group — now home to Experio Summer and Experio English. With four decades of hands-on experience and an exceptional global network, Tony is widely recognised for his expertise in building trusted partnerships and delivering innovative international education experiences.
Rob Moss, Finance Director
Rob began his career supporting small and medium-sized enterprises with Business Link, the UK Government’s enterprise support agency, where he was one of its youngest business advisers. He went on to lead the restructuring of business support and economic development services in Essex before joining the University of East London to help establish its pioneering Knowledge Transfer Development Programme. In 2000, Rob co-founded Experio Group with Tony Evans, combining his business expertise with a shared vision for high-quality international education experiences. A year later, he founded NovaCapita Ltd to further his work in international enterprise development. With over 25 years of experience in business strategy, finance, and cross-border collaboration, Rob plays a key role in driving Experio’s continued growth, ensuring sound financial management and building strong partnerships worldwide.
Richard Avery, Operations Director
After completing a degree in Leisure Management at the University of Exeter, Richard built a 25-year career in commercial development and operations at a leading UK independent boarding school in Bristol. There, he oversaw a diverse portfolio of holiday programmes, including a highly successful international summer school, which he and his team managed in close partnership with Experio Life. Renowned for his hands-on leadership and commitment to excellence, Richard brings extensive expertise in operational planning, staff management, and programme delivery. His proven ability to create seamless, high-quality experiences ensures that every course runs to the highest standard. As Operations Director at Experio Summer, Richard drives innovation, efficiency, and consistency across all operations, ensuring partners and participants receive an exceptional level of service and support every step of the way.
Ben Whittaker, Director of Experio English
With nearly two decades of experience in hospitality and tourism management, Ben built a strong reputation for exceeding client expectations and delivering outstanding service. He later transitioned into the language travel and study tourism sector, becoming Managing Director of ABC Cambridge, where he quickly made his mark by developing innovative programmes and driving significant business growth. A firm believer in diligence, quality, and professionalism, Ben is passionate about creating authentic learning experiences that inspire students and build lasting connections across cultures. Following the pandemic, he founded EngXcel to help people from around the world learn real English for real life. In 2022, Ben partnered with Experio Summer to deliver high-quality English language courses across its centres. Today, as Director of Experio English — formed through the merger of EngXcel and Experio Life — he leads the company with a clear vision of excellence, innovation, and integrity in English language education.
